Brendan has held the position of Director – Space Monitoring at the Agency since 2023, leading a multi-disciplinary specialist team that provides Australian Government stakeholders situational awareness of activities in space. This information informs oversight of Australian objects in space and also informs management of risks from potentially dangerous events such as the re-entry of space objects to Australian and surrounding areas. Brendan led the Agency’s successful bid to join the Inter-Agency Space Debris Coordination Committee in 2025.

Prior to taking up the position of Director – Space Monitoring, Brendan was the Program Office Director for the National Space Mission for Earth Observation (NSMEO) at the Agency. Before joining the Agency Brendan focussed on complex program management in Defence, including Project Director roles for High Frequency Radar (JORN) and Space Surveillance Systems, and leading Science and Technology programs in Innovation, Space Control and the Space STaRShot.

These program management roles built upon defence industry experience as a project manager, systems engineer and signal processing specialist. Brendan developed novel SATCOM technologies with DSpace and Auspace, delivered upgrades to JORN with Lockheed Martin Australia and helped develop the Air Warfare Destroyer Integrated Sonar System for Ultra Electronics.
