Danail Obreschkow is professor for astrophysics at the University of Western Australia (UWA) node of the International Centre for Radio Astronomy Research (ICRAR) and the Director of UWA’s International Space Centre (ISC). He graduated in theoretical physics at the Swiss Federal Institute of Technology in Lausanne (Switzerland), before obtaining his PhD in astrophysics from the University of Oxford in 2009. Subsequently, he spent two years in the electric car industry before joining UWA as a faculty member. He pursues computational research in extragalactic astrophysics and experimental research in microgravity, and is well-connected across the Australian and international space sectors through collaborations spanning academia, industry, government and space agencies.
