With more than 28 years of executive leadership experience in emergency services, public safety and government, Michael is recognised for leading large, geographically dispersed organisations operating in high-risk and high-consequence environments. His expertise spans governance, strategy, organisational transformation, risk management, workforce development and operational leadership.

Prior to joining the RFDS, Michael served as Commissioner and Chief Executive Officer of the Northern Territory Police, Fire and Emergency Services, leading more than 2,300 personnel and overseeing policing, emergency management, fire and rescue services across the Territory. During his tenure he secured significant government investment in frontline capability, led major organisational reform programs and directed responses to numerous large-scale emergencies and critical incidents.
