Biography
Omar Pimentel is a Director at Type One Ventures, where he invests in and supports the founders building the next generation of space, energy, defense, and deep-tech companies. He works closely with portfolio companies to sharpen their strategic positioning and accelerate growth, helps drive the firm’s capital formation and investor relationships, and brings a sharp instinct for what separates venture-scale businesses: technical credibility, timing, customer alignment, and the ability to turn innovation into real market and mission adoption. His deep fluency across government and defense markets gives Type One and its founders a distinct edge in navigating where private capital, government demand, and national security priorities intersect.
Before joining Type One, Omar was a program manager and led policy and strategy for the Defense Innovation Unit’s Space Portfolio, driving dual-use programs across responsive space, orbital return, global sensing, advanced manufacturing, and AI-enabled space applications. He previously served at NASA Headquarters’ Office of Technology Policy and Strategy and in the U.S. House of Representatives. Omar holds a Master’s in International Policy from Stanford, where he was an inaugural Defense Innovation Scholar at the Gordian Knot Center for National Security Innovation, and a B.A. in Economics and Political Science from Florida State University.
