Biography

Paul Hilton is Engineering Program Manager at Space Machines Company, where he runs build schedules and delivery across SMC’s two key engineering programs: The Optimus Viper highly-manoeuvrable and low-cost spacecraft; and Solstice OS, SMC’s autonomy and command-and-control platform for spacecraft operations. In 2024 he was the company’s Mission Manager, responsible for the assembly, integration, test and launch of Optimus, the largest spacecraft ever built in Australia. Paul is an active member of the Australian Army Reserves where he has served as an Engineer Officer for the last 15 years.
He has a Masters of Space Operations from UNSW, and will challenge anyone that says The Expanse is not the best sci-fi TV series of all time.
