Biography
Dr Rebecca Allen is Co Director of the Space Technology and Industry Institute and Major Discipline Coordinator for Space Technology at Swinburne University of Technology. In her roles, she leads the development of industry aligned space programs while ensuring students gain the skills, experience, and opportunities needed to build successful careers in the space sector.
With a PhD in Astrophysics, Dr Allen brings a strong research background to supporting Australia’s growing space industry, including work in microgravity experimentation and Earth observation. She is the co creator of the Swinburne Youth Space Innovation Challenge and SHINE programs, enabling students to design and fly experiments on the International Space Station, and is a passionate advocate for space education and workforce development. Dr Allen’s enthusiasm for accessible education has led to her co-found LaunchLabz, a spinout company that aims to bring space to classrooms across Australia and beyond.
