Biography
Sam Paterson is a co-founder of MP Space and the company’s Chief Commercial Officer.
Sam has spent his career taking hardware from concept to mass production across some of the most demanding manufacturing environments in the world, working at Tesla, Apple and Zoox while living in the SF Bay Area between 2015 and mid-2020.
At Tesla, Sam delivered multiple generations of Model S and Model X battery packs and took the Model 3 battery from concept through to mass manufacture. In his capacity as Engineering Program Manager, Sam led cross-functional execution and delivery of complex engineering programs involving hundreds of engineers. After a short time at Apple, Sam next moved to Zoox to help scale autonomous driving technology as the company progressed from Series B through to its acquisition by Amazon in 2020.
Sam joined Sydney-based seed-stage startup, Vow, as Head of Strategy and Head of Manufacturing in 2022, where he built the manufacturing and process development team that delivered the world’s first commercially viable cell-cultivated meat products. In his 2-years at Vow, Sam stood up two factories and lifted production volume by three orders of magnitude while cutting production costs by the same factor.
Sam founded MP Space in January 2024 and holds a Bachelor of Engineering (Mechanical) from UNSW.
