Professor Held is the Chief Scientist for Earth Observation and AquaWatch in CSIRO’s Astronomy and Space Science Research Unit. He currently is the Chair of the Committee on Earth Observation Satellites (CEOS) with Geoscience Australia and the Bureau of Meteorology. Alex served in the National Committee of Space Science in the Australian Academy of Science, as well as the Australian Space Agency’s Space Coordination Committee. He has a PhD from the University of California – Davis and is Associate Professor at the Australian National University and Adjunct Professor at the University of New England. He received the COSPAR Massey Award in 2022.
